How Do You Love Without Losing Yourself?
Love asks for attention, truth, repair and vulnerability, including when bodies change what intimacy looks like. It does not ask you to disappear into someone else.
Love includes feeling and cannot run on feeling alone. What it asks for day to day looks closer to practice: attention, honesty, repair, and a willingness to be seen without any guarantee about how that goes.
The episode spends its time on the failure modes that look like devotion — care hardening into control, into rescue, into overfunctioning, until one person has quietly vanished from their own life. Boundaries and room to be separate protect love rather than dilute it, and sacrifice can be part of it without being its proof.
The episode also takes up the part of love most conversations about love avoid: sex and physical intimacy. Health, pain, fatigue, age and circumstance can change what intimacy asks of a body without changing the wanting or the closeness. It's plain about that, including how to talk about it with a partner, what to do with the grief when a familiar form of intimacy changes, and the kinds of closeness that aren't only sexual.
It also holds the parts that do not resolve. Love cannot guarantee reciprocity or preserve every form a relationship has taken, and it can outlast the form. Leaving does not prove the love was false.
